Basketball Recap: Mara Dae White's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ahoskie Christian over Gramercy Christian

Ahoskie Christian was the 51-39 winner over Gramercy Christian when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. Ahoskie Christian fell just short of the Gramercy Christian Warriors by a score of 54-51 on Thursday.

Ahoskie Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Mara Dae White, who went 7 of 11 from beyond the arc en route to 32 points. The contest was White's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Jones, who posted six points in addition to ten boards and four blocks.

Gramercy Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addi Cook, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Diaz, who put up six points along with nine rebounds and three steals.

Ahoskie Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Gramercy Christian, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5.

When Ahoskie Christian and Gramercy Christian next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Ahoskie Christian will try to stop Suffolk Christian Academy's four-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
