Baseball Recap: Cox Mill Extends Winning Streak to Three

Cox Mill entered their tilt with A.L. Brown on Friday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the A.L. Brown Wonders. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-0 last Tuesday.

Jackson Caldwell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Tyler Cartee and Dillon Alves did most of the damage at the plate: Cartee scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Alves got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI and one double. Those three hits gave Cartee a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tyler Hicks, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Cox Mill's record now sits at 3-1. As for A.L. Brown, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Coming up, Cox Mill will be playing at home against Mount Pleasant at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Mount Pleasant 3, Cox Mill 2) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for A.L. Brown, they will venture away from home to take on Central Cabarrus at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
