Preview: Central Rockets vs. Dade Christian Crusaders
The Central Rockets will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Dade Christian Crusaders at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 14 matches -- so hopefully Dade Christian likes a good challenge.
Even though Plantation scored an imposing 63 points on Monday, Central still came out on top. Central snuck past Plantation with a 67-63 victory.
Dwight Carter continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds. Justin Suarez was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, Dade Christian ended up a good deal behind Florida Christian on Wednesday and lost 68-50. While losing is never fun, Dade Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 416th, while Florida Christian is ranked 92nd).
Dade Christian's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kenvenson Malivert, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks, and Kevin Rojo who scored eight points along with eight assists. Malivert is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 13 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cristian Villa, who scored five points.
Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Dade Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's contest: Central have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 5.2 threes per game. It's a different story for Dade Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 3.5 threes per game. Given Central's sizeable advantage in that area, Dade Christian will need to find a way to close that gap. Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
