Softball Game Preview: Huron Chiefs vs. Mercy Marlins

The Huron Chiefs will venture away from home to take on the Mercy Marlins at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Huron made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Riverview, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Chiefs fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 5-3 on Monday. The Chiefs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Madison Kuzara put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Kuzara was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Kuzara wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Maya Martindale, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Mercy earned a 12-7 victory over Divine Child on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Marlins.

Mercy's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Huron, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Huron might still be hurting after the 8-2 loss they got from Mercy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Chiefs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
