Volleyball Recap: Long Reach Starts Season with Win Against Flowers + How To Watch

Long Reach had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Flowers Jaguars on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Lightning in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won three in a row.

While Long Reach won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The final score came out to 25-9, 25-23, 25-18.

Meredith Brown paced Long Reach's offense, picking up eight kills. Brown got some help from Evalyn Ordonez and her nine assists. Ordonez was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

Long Reach will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Reservoir at 6:00 p.m. on September 9. The game will give the Lightning their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Flowers, they will square off against Westlake at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
