Baseball Game Preview: Kutztown Cougars vs. Berks Catholic Saints

Kutztown hasn't had much luck against Berks Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the Saints at 11:00 a.m. Kutztown's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Berks Catholic's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Fleetwood hit Kutztown with a four-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cougars lost 7-1 to the Tigers. Cougars fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Tigers since on Friday.

Meanwhile, Berks Catholic came up short against Reading on Thursday and fell 13-8.

Trey Stricker was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Aidan Curley was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Kutztown's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Berks Catholic, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-5.

Kutztown couldn't quite get it done against Berks Catholic in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 12-8. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
