Basketball Game Preview: Dunnellon Tigers vs. Northside Christian Mustangs

The Dunnellon Tigers and the Northside Christian Mustangs will face off at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Dunnellon saw some tournament action on Friday. They took a 54-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Southwest. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Northside Christian was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 64-60 to Bible Baptist Christian. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 398th in Florida, while the Wolves are ranked 193rd in Georgia).

Dunnellon will need focus on slowing down Elijah Ahlers, one of several Northside Christian players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 17 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. The contest was Ahlers' seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaycen White, who put up 23 points.

Northside Christian has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Dunnellon, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
