Volleyball Recap: Katie Kurtz and Sydney Permuth Secure Win for Freedom

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wharton, Freedom was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Spoto Spartans as they made off with a 3-0 win. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Freedom took every set by at least 12 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-7, 25-13.

Freedom was led to victory by Sydney Permuth and Katie Kurtz. Permuth had 11 digs, while Kurtz had four digs and four aces. Those 11 digs gave Permuth a new career-high. Alex Yang also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Freedom was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in five consecutive matches.

Freedom's win bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Spoto, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 8-4.

As of now, neither Freedom nor the Spartans have any future games scheduled.
