Softball Recap: United Takes a Loss + How To Watch

United had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 10-10 to make it five. They fell just short of the Portage Mustangs by a score of 4-2. The Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mustangs earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

Ella Worthington put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Worthington wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kenedi Fiochetta, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. Fiochetta has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

As for Portage, the victory got them back to even at 10-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since April 7th.

On Portage's side, Reese Pinizzotto spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up 16 Ks.

United has already played their next matchup, a 7-6 loss against Penns Manor on the 14th. As for Portage, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 7-6 defeat against Northern Bedford County on the 11th.
