Baseball Recap: Belleville East Takes a Loss

Belleville East easily dispatched Woodridge on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Belleville East fell just short of the Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy Eagles by a score of 8-6 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Lancers have suffered since May 15, 2024.

Belleville East got a good showing from Logan Faust, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. What's more, Faust posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Tommy Kramkowski made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to triples, as he's now hit at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Caden Cagas also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Belleville East's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Belleville East will be playing at home against Granite City at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Granite City has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.4 runs per game on average), something Belleville East will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, they will host Collinsville at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
