Basketball Recap: Hailey Hughes' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lee County over Triton + How To Watch

Lee County lost against Triton back in February of 2021 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Yellow Jackets took a 54-38 bruising from the Hawks.

Lee County's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hailey Hughes, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards. Shianne Bennett also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Nashara McNeil-Watlington was her usual excellent self, going 9-for-18 on her way to 20 points in addition to eight assists and four steals for Triton. That makes it five consecutive games in which McNeil-Watlington has scored at least a third of the Hawks' points. Neveah Hawley was another key player, shooting 67% from beyond the arc en route to 19 points.

Lee County's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Triton, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lee County will be home for the holidays to greet West Johnston at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Triton, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Riverside Christian Academy at 3:00 p.m. on the 29th.
