Softball Game Preview: St. David Tigers vs. San Simon Longhorns

The St. David Tigers will challenge the San Simon Longhorns at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

St. David picked up another tournament win on Friday. They blew past Nogales 7-1. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by six runs or more this season.

Jasmine Wise was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Austyn Hatch, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, San Simon made sure to put some runs up on the board against Madison Highland Prep on Friday. San Simon was the clear victor by a 23-3 margin over Madison Highland Prep. The Longhorns' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

St. David is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. San Simon's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3.
