Basketball Game Preview: Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine vs. Brownstown/St. Elmo Eagles

Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine will head out on the road to face off against the Brownstown/St. Elmo Eagles at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

Last Friday, Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine lost to Casey-Westfield at home by a 56-41 margin. While losing is never fun, Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 639th, while Casey-Westfield is ranked 149th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Brownstown/St. Elmo). They strolled past Grayville with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 78-61. The win was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

The victory got Brownstown/St. Elmo back to even at 7-7. As for Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine might still be hurting after the 69-47 defeat they got from Brownstown/St. Elmo in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
