Softball Recap: Warrensville Heights Takes a Loss

Warrensville Heights extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-3 in the process. They came up short against the Garfield Heights Bulldogs, falling 16-7. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

Garfield Heights' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

For Garfield Heights' part, Akeelah Adams made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Adams has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alexandria Roundtree, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Jhania Norton was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.

Warrensville Heights wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Bard Early College on the 25th. As for Garfield Heights, they have also already played their next matchup, a 31-7 loss against Maple Heights on the 28th.
