Basketball Game Preview: East St. Louis Flyers vs. Phillips Wildcats

The East St. Louis Flyers will face off against the Phillips Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. East St. Louis is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.

East St. Louis came up into this matchup off a tough 30-point defeat on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Manual by a score of 41-38 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Flyers have suffered since December 1, 2023.

Meanwhile, after a string of eight wins, Phillips' good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 58-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Whitney Young. While the Wildcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Dolphins 20-10 in the first quarter.

East St. Louis' defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Phillips, their loss dropped their record down to 14-6.

East St. Louis strolled past Phillips in their previous matchup back in January of 2018 by a score of 64-47. Will East St. Louis repeat their success, or does Phillips have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
