Baseball Recap: Mandarin Falls to Tocoi Creek in First Game of Season

Mandarin unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Tocoi Creek Toros by a score of 5-4 on Tuesday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

CJ Murphy made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, he also posted two hits, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gavin Loper, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Mandarin didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 8-2 defeat against Middleburg on the 14th. As for Tocoi Creek, they have also already played their next game, an 11-0 win against Matanzas on the 13th.
