Basketball Recap: Granite Bay Victorious

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Granite Bay ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They secured a 76-72 W over the Del Oro Golden Eagles. This was payback for the Grizzlies, who suffered a 76-72 loss the last time these two teams met.

Del Oro's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hayden Yarnes, who went 6 for 9 en route to 17 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Reid Brear, who went 7 of 15 on his way to 24 points.

Granite Bay's record is now 6-15. As for Del Oro, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-13.

Granite Bay and Del Oro could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Granite Bay will square off against Oak Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Monday down 352 places (454 vs. 102). Similarly, Del Oro (ranked 371st) will meet Jesuit (ranked 65th) at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
