Softball Recap: Point Loma Snags 12th Victory in Last 15 Games

Point Loma never got on the board in their matchup on Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Academy of Our Lady of Peace on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Pilots. The Pointers not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 29th (when they won 13-3).

Ryoko Schroth made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Schroth was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Annika Isaacson and Avery MacPherson did most of the damage at the plate: Isaacson went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while MacPherson went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Isaacson has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tate Ondre, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Point Loma always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Academy of Our Lady of Peace only posted an OBP of .286.

Point Loma has been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Academy of Our Lady of Peace, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 14 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Point Loma will face off against rival Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Pointers 3.2, the Patriots 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Academy of Our Lady of Peace is set to square off against their familiar foe Patrick Henry at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
