Basketball Recap: Hali Harris' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Steward over Norfolk Christian

If Steward was feeling good fresh off their 65-24 takedown of Norfolk Academy last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Steward Spartans fell 64-56 to the Norfolk Christian Ambassadors on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Ambassadors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 65-61 back in January.

Steward lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Hali Harris, who posted 17 points along with six boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Lilly Thoman, who en route to 10 points in addition to seven assists and six rebounds.

Norfolk Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Justice Brown-Jones out in front who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 12 boards. The game was Brown-Jones' fifth in a row with at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Abuna Ruop, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 16 rebounds.

Steward's defeat dropped their record down to 17-11. As for Norfolk Christian, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-2.

Steward does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Norfolk Christian, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 62-59 victory against Catholic on the 23rd.
