Volleyball Recap: West Mecklenburg Comes Up Short

The West Mecklenburg Hawks lost 3-0 to the South Mecklenburg Sabres on Tuesday.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-21, 25-8.

Phoenix Modie had another great game (as he tends to do), getting 20 kills, six aces, four blocks, and three digs for South Mecklenburg. Those 20 kills gave Modie a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Balen Spry, who had 11 digs and two aces.

West Mecklenburg has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for South Mecklenburg, they moved to 5-8 with that win, which also ended their seven-game losing streak.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. West Mecklenburg is set to square off against their familiar foe Mooresville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, South Mecklenburg will take on rival Butler at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Someone's luck will take a turn for the better: the Sabres have lost three straight at home , while the Bulldogs have lost three on the road.
