Baseball Game Preview: Hopewell Vikings vs. Ambridge Bridgers

For the second straight game, Hopewell will face off against Ambridge. Hopewell will face off against Ambridge at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopewell's hitters haven't had much luck over their past five matchups, but Tuesday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hopewell managed to slip by Ambridge the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Hopewell lost 7-1 to Ambridge on Monday. Vikings fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Bridgers since on Monday.

For Ambridge's part, Joe Leseiko made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave Leseiko a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carter Mason, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Liam Baker was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Ambridge lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hopewell didn't launched any home runs.

Hopewell's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Ambridge, their record is now 4-2-1.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Hopewell has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Ambridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.6 strikeouts.
