Baseball Game Preview: Waynflete Flyers vs. Old Orchard Beach Seagulls

Waynflete is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Monday. They will head out to challenge the Old Orchard Beach Seagulls at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Wednesday, Waynflete was able to grind out a solid victory over Telstar, taking the game 9-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Flyers.

Meanwhile, Old Orchard Beach gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out St. Dominic 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Seagulls have posted since May 3, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Wesley Gallant, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Everything went Waynflete's way against Old Orchard Beach in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, as Waynflete made off with a 12-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Flyers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
