Basketball Recap: Irvin Skates Past Harmony Science Academy with Ease

A well-balanced attack led Irvin over Harmony Science Academy in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Irvin Rockets blew Harmony Science Academy out of the water with a 56-25 final score. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Rockets had established a 20 point advantage.

Leading Irvin to victory were Jazlyn Burciaga and Jayanna Rascon. Burciaga went 7 for 12 on her way to 19 points and five steals, while Rascon went 6 of 12 en route to 20 points. Those 20 points gave Rascon a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Enriquez, who posted two points in addition to nine assists, seven boards, and five steals.

Irvin was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harmony Science Academy only posted eight assists.

When it comes to explaining why Harmony Science Academy lost, don't look at Miranda Urquidi-Sauceda. Despite the final result, she put up 16 points and eight rebounds. Urquidi-Sauceda's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Irvin's win bumped their record up to 10-18. As for Harmony Science Academy, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-18 record this season.

Irvin will challenge Clint at 6:00 p.m. on February 11th. Harmony Science Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
