Volleyball Recap: North Putnam Starts Season with Defeat at Home

North Putnam unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South Vermillion Wildcats on Saturday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it six in a row.

North Putnam started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 25-20, 25-13, 25-15.

Melanie Davies paced North Putnam's offense, picking up ten kills. Davies got some help from Hailee Daigle and her ten assists. Daigle was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

North Putnam has already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Riverton Parke on the 18th. As for South Vermillion, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Clay City on the 18th.
