Baseball Recap: West Triumphs

West proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Millennium Falcons 7-6. This was payback for the Wolfpack, who suffered a 17-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Tyler Armstrong made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because West is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 0-5 otherwise. Armstrong was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryan Crotts, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Preston Gardner, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

West's record now sits at 2-6. As for Millennium, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.

Coming up, West will challenge Skyline at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Millennium, they will host McNair at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
