Basketball Recap: Caledonia's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Caledonia came into Monday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against the Fayette County Tigers by a score of 55-45 on Monday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Cavaliers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 74th in Mississippi, while the Tigers are ranked 201st in Alabama).

Caledonia's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Fayette County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Caledonia won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Houston at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fayette County, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Carbon Hill at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2026.
