The Canyon Cowboys make Tour of Champions history.

Canyon High School made Tour of Champions history this week as it marked the first team that we are honoring in back-to-back seasons.

Much like the visit last year, the weather was beautiful and the school was in great spirits as the MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard celebrated the Cowboys once again.

Led by charismatic Head Coach Harry Welch, Canyon has always been a vocal supporter of MaxPreps and the Tour of Champions. The school certainly helped to make this ceremony memorable once again.

The Canyon gym was packed with students, administration, members of the media, cheerleaders, and the school band. Representing MaxPreps was the President/CEO of the company, Andy Beal.

It was all about Cowboy football this day as Beal (sporting a green and gold MaxPreps shirt in honor of Canyon High School) reflected on the outstanding achievements of the team and the leadership of Coach Welch. Lieutenant Colonel Wendy Kautzman of the California Army National Guard addressed the crowd next, highlighted by the trophy presentation to Coach Welch and the Cowboy team.

The MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard is all about nationally recognizing the finest teams in the country. As our No. 10-ranked team, Canyon has proven to be one of the best in America over the last few years. Don't be surprised if the MaxPreps Tour of Champions makes its way back to the friendly confines of Canyon High School for a third-consecutive year in January 2008.
