            Softball Recap: Deer Valley Skyhawks vs. Cactus Cobras        
        
		
        
        
            Deer Valley fought the good fight in their extra-innings  contest against Cactus  on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cobras by a score of  3-2. The Skyhawks' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

 Adyson Ordway spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned  (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent  for a while: she hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances.

Deer Valley's  loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 16-4-1. As for Cactus, their win was  their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which  pushed their record up to 7-6.
While Deer Valley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled  at 3:45  p.m.  on Thursday.
