League recap: Overbey breaks off league-leading run for Vista Ridge

4A Pikes Peak recap October 22, 2013

Jaquan Overbey of Vista Ridge ran for the longest rushing play in 4A Pikes Peak this season against Liberty last week. Overbey scampered for 80 yards on the play and finished with 121 on the day as his team topped the Lancers.

Pine Creek extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Ponderosa, 42-7. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Eagles.

Kalen Ballage was a beast in the backfield as Falcon topped Air Academy.

Elway Tubbs threw for 312 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Ballage was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 272 yards on 19 carries as the Falcons beat Liberty. Teammate Dylan Cutkomp added to the ground attack by rushing for 30 yards.

The leading receiver in the league this season is Clayton Hacker. The Rampart star has 36 catches for 594 yards.

Entering into this week's contest against Sand Creek, Tubbs is short just 105 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season. So far this year, Tubbs has thrown for 1,895 yards with 16 touchdowns and 9 interceptions.

At the moment, the Wolves are in fourth, while the Scorpions are in second.

Vista Ridge took down Clarence Vaughn's team 49-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Tubbs ran for 19 yards in the win.
