Softball Game Preview: Northwest Halifax Vikings vs. Hobgood Charter Raiders

The Northwest Halifax Vikings will face off against the Hobgood Charter Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Thursday, everything went Northwest Halifax's way against North Edgecombe as Northwest Halifax made off with a 23-3 victory. The Vikings have beaten the Warriors the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Warriors has come to flipping the script.

Meanwhile, Hobgood Charter won against Jones on Friday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. Hobgood Charter walked away with a 7-2 win over North East Carolina Prep. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Raiders.

Haleigh Eason made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Eason was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ella Brownfield, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Kinsey Peel was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Northwest Halifax's record now sits at 2-0. As for Hobgood Charter, their record now sits at an identical 2-0.
