Softball Recap: Hawkins Find Success

Hawkins won the last time they faced Cumby and things went their way on Friday too. Hawkins won by a run and slipped past Cumby 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hawks have posted since February 22nd.

The team relied heavily on Taetum Smith, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Londyn Wilson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles.

Hawkins is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-8-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. Cumby dropped their record down to 2-11 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Hawkins Hawks face off against Como-Pickton Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Como-Pickton will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Hawkins surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cumby, they will host Martins Mill at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
