Baseball Recap: Tennyson Takes a Loss

Tennyson extended their losing streak to six on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 3-9 in the process. They came up short against the Arroyo Dons, falling 16-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lancers of the 7-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2018.

As for Arroyo, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Arroyo's part, they let Marco Carbajal and Justin Nelson run wild. Carbajal went 1-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI, while Nelson went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Nelson has become a key player for Arroyo: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Michael Loller, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Arroyo wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 16-3 loss against Berkeley on the 24th. Hopefully Tennyson paid attention to the Dons' game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Dons at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
