Basketball Recap: San Carlos Takes a Loss

After flying high against Miami last Saturday, San Carlos came back down to earth. The San Carlos Braves took a 50-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Morenci Wildcats. The Braves lost against the Wildcats in their previous head to head back in November of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 75-42 score last time.

Despite the loss, San Carlos saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Leandro Simbolo posted nine points in addition to seven assists and six boards. Simbolo is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Leshawn Browning, who put up seven points in addition to six steals and five boards.

San Carlos' defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Morenci, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

San Carlos and St. Michael will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Morenci, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against San Miguel at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
