Montrose barely beat St. Charles the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rams blew past the Bulldogs 18-2 on Thursday. The Rams' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Conner Thompson was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Montrose got a massive performance out of Owen Leitelt, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Those stolen bases marked the first that Leitelt has snagged this season. Connor Gross was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Montrose's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-9. As for St. Charles, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Looking ahead, Montrose will challenge Brandon at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for St. Charles, they will square off against Coleman at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
