Basketball Recap: King Philip Regional Comes Up Short

King Philip Regional lost against Milford back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The King Philip Regional Warriors fell just short of the Milford Scarlet Hawks by a score of 70-67. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the Scarlet Hawks are ranked 39th).

Milford's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Luca Testa led the charge by putting up 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gus Coutinho, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for King Philip Regional and nudges their season record down to 2-5. As for Milford, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.

King Philip Regional will take on Mansfield at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. As for Milford, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Hamilton-Wenham Regional at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
