Baseball Recap: Willow Spring Extends Winning Streak to Three

Willow Spring waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Clayton Comets by a score of 6-1. That's two games straight that the Storm have won by exactly five runs.

Luke Doreauk tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Bryce Marsh was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Colby Harbin, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Willow Spring was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

The win got Willow Spring back to even at 3-3. As for Clayton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

Coming up, Willow Spring will square off against Southeast Raleigh at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southeast Raleigh has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.67 runs per game on average), something Willow Spring will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Clayton, they will take on South Garner at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Clayton is facing South Garner at the right time seeing as South Garner is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
