Soccer Game Preview: Hazleton Area vs. Williamsport

Hazleton Area hasn't had much luck against Williamsport recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Cougars will take on the Millionaires at 12:00 p.m. Williamsport took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Hazleton Area, who comes in off a win.

Hazleton Area is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand Wyoming Valley West a 7-0 shutout. Ryleigh Snyder was a massive factor in the win as she booted in three goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Williamsport managed to keep up with Crestwood until halftime last Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Millionaires lost 6-1 to the Comets. Williamsport haven't had much luck with Crestwood recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

The win made it two in a row for Hazleton Area and bumps their season record up to 7-11-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored ten goals over those two matches. As for Williamsport, they now have a losing record of 8-9-1.

Hazleton Area suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Williamsport in their previous matchup back in October of 2023. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
