Softball Recap: St. Mary's Run of Three Straight Wins Now Over

St. Mary lost against Kimball back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Rams fell 10-6 to the Jaguars. The Rams' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Ava Arucan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered ten runs (all of which were unearned) on nine hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season.

At the plate, Matea Muraoka made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Maya Garcia was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4.

St. Mary's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Kimball, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

St. Mary's will square off against Lincoln at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Rams' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Kimball, they will challenge West at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jaguars are facing the Wolfpack at the right time seeing as the Wolfpack are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
