Baseball Recap: Lake Havasu Sets Scoring Season-High Against Kellis

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lake Havasu). They were the clear victors by a 31-0 margin over the Kellis Cougars on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Knights considering their two-run performance the game before.

Landen Nigg looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Deegan Cross was a standout: he got on base in all six of his plate appearances with one home run and seven RBI. Those seven RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Lockman, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI.

Lake Havasu always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .745. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Lake Havasu's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 11-5. As for Kellis, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Coming up, Kellis will head out to square off against Sunrise Mountain at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. Lake Havasu will be paying especially close attention to Kellis' contest: after Kellis faces off against Sunrise Mountain, they'll take on Lake Havasu again at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
