Softball Game Preview: Franklin Panthers vs. Tuscola Mountaineers

Franklin has gone 8-2 against Tuscola recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Franklin Panthers will head out to challenge the Tuscola Mountaineers at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Franklin's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 10-0 margin over East Henderson. Considering the Panthers' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Suzanna Cabe made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-5.

In other batting news, Franklin let Jozy Dehart and Layla Maloy run wild. Dehart scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Maloy scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That stolen base was Maloy's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Meliah Mason, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Franklin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Tuscola waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Eagles 13-2. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Mountaineers this season.

Tuscola pushed their record up to 3-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Franklin, they now also have a winning record of 3-2.

Franklin took their win against Tuscola in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-5. Does Franklin have another victory up their sleeve, or will Tuscola turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
