Softball Recap: Flatonia Takes a Loss

Flatonia dropped their record down to 16-11-1 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 10-0 to the Ganado Indians. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Bulldogs' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Flatonia saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jalee Trussell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base was Trussell's first of the season.

As for Ganado, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 19 of their last 20 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-5-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games.

On Ganado's side, Saylor Bures tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Bures has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ganado got a massive performance out of Paisley Hajovsky, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Kalyn Benavides, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

While Flatonia had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
