Softball Recap: Midland's Loss Ends 12-Game Winning Streak at Home

Midland suffered their biggest defeat since April 15, 2024 on Monday. They lost 19-4 to the White County Central Bears. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2016.

Midland saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madelyn Jefford, who scored three runs and stole Four bases. while going 2-for-3. Jefford is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another was June McFarland, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Midland's defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for White County Central, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Midland will venture away from home to face off against Mt. Vernon-Enola at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for White County Central, they will head out to square off against Batesville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
