Softball Recap: Woodside Beats Burlingame for Their Third Straight Victory

Woodside waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Burlingame Panthers by a score of 9-5. This was payback for the Wildcats, who suffered a 9-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Hannah Walker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Elizabeth Severin was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mo Overbey, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Woodside hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Burlingame struck out seven times.

Woodside's record is now 11-5. As for Burlingame, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Coming up, Woodside will venture away from home to challenge Capuchino at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats will need to watch out since the Mustangs have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matches. As for Burlingame, they will host King's Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
