Basketball Recap: Socastee Takes a Loss

Socastee suffered their closest defeat since December 13, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of the St. James Sharks by a score of 50-48. The Braves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Sharks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Socastee still got an impressive performance from Bryson Sams, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 26 points. That was a full 54.2% of Socastee's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Joshua Brown, who earned eight points.

Socastee has been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 13 matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for St. James, they pushed their record up to 13-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

While Socastee had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
