Basketball Game Preview: Michigan Lutheran Seminary Cardinals vs. Hemlock Huskies

Michigan Lutheran Seminary is 2-8 against Hemlock since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Michigan Lutheran Seminary Cardinals will host the Hemlock Huskies at 5:30 p.m.

Michigan Lutheran Seminary is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest defeat since December 2, 2024 on Tuesday. They took a blow against Alma, falling 66-29. The Cardinals were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-14.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Grace Steiger, who posted six points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in boards. Kennedy Koehler was another key player, putting up eight points.

Meanwhile, Hemlock had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.8 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They blew past the Marauders 51-28. The Huskies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 contests by 23 points or more this season.

Hemlock pushed their record up to 17-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.0 points over those games. As for Michigan Lutheran Seminary, their loss dropped their record down to 14-5.

Michigan Lutheran Seminary ended up a good deal behind Hemlock in their previous meeting back in January, losing 56-37. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Hemlock's Victoria Hauffe, who went 10-for-20 on her way to 32 points and eight steals.
