Basketball Game Preview: Santa Rosa Warriors vs. Progreso Red Ants

The Santa Rosa Warriors will challenge the Progreso Red Ants at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Santa Rosa has six straight victories, Progreso has 11 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Santa Rosa is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past IDEA Frontier College Prep 60-4 on Tuesday. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Santa Rosa to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mia Garza, who posted 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amber Mendoza, who had 13 points.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 72-2, which was the final score in Progreso's tilt against Rio Hondo on Tuesday. The contest marked the Red Ants' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Santa Rosa pushed their record up to 18-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 8.8 points per game. As for Progreso, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.
