Softball Game Preview: Triad Knights vs. East St. Louis Flyers

The Triad Knights are taking a road trip to challenge the East St. Louis Flyers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Triad is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Triad took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They skirted past Mascoutah 5-4.

Triad saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Horn, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, East St. Louis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They came up short against Metro-East Lutheran, falling 12-0.

Triad is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for East St. Louis, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.

East St. Louis' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Triad has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .442. It's a different story for East St. Louis, though, as they've only averaged .295. Will they be able to contain Triad's hitters?

Triad took their victory against East St. Louis in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 20-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
