After a string of three wins, Wardlaw Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 65-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cambridge Academy Cougars. The Patriots were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cougars earlier this season, when they won 74-50.

Wardlaw Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Colt Bailey, who almost dropped a double-double on 28 points and nine boards, and Noah Harper, who posted 21 points. That was a full 46.7% of Wardlaw Academy's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Josh Bussey, who put up a point and ten rebounds.

Cambridge Academy was led to victory by Maddox Lee and Andrew Wiley. Lee almost dropped a double-double on 28 points and nine boards, while Wiley almost dropped a triple-double on 12 points, 17 rebounds, and nine blocks. Wiley is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last 13 games he's played. Elisha Southerland was another key player, putting up ten points and five rebounds.

Wardlaw Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Cambridge Academy, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-13.

Wardlaw Academy is taking a road trip to challenge Newberry Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Cambridge Academy has already played their next match, a 63-44 loss against Anderson Christian on the 4th.
