Basketball Game Preview: Northwestern Trojans vs. Fort Mill Yellow Jackets

Northwestern is 1-9 against Fort Mill since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Northwestern Trojans will head out to face off against the Fort Mill Yellow Jackets at 6:30 p.m.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 57-25, which was the final score in Northwestern's tilt against Clover on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Blue Eagles are ranked 17th).

Meanwhile, Fort Mill hadn't done well against Rock Hill recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Fort Mill pulled ahead with a 42-41 photo finish over Rock Hill.

Fort Mill now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Northwestern, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-8.

Northwestern took a serious blow against Fort Mill when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 59-21. Can Northwestern avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
