Football Recap: Socorro Piles Up the Points Against Cathedral

Socorro got themselves on the board against Cathedral on Thursday, but Cathedral never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 55-0 win over the Fighting Irish. That 55 point margin sets a new team best for the Bulldogs this season.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Adrian Hunt and Antonio Trivizo. Hunt rushed for 176 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 9.8 yards per carry while Trivizo rushed for 170 yards and one touchdown while picking up 10.6 yards per carry. Hunt is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 135 every time he's taken the field this season. Isaac Anaya also deserves a shout-out for his two scores.

Socorro was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 480 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 178 rushing yards in seven consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Socorro didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jose Feliz and Aindreas Acosta. Socorro got some further help from Prince Vital: he picked up 0.5 sacks, forced one fumble, and made seven total tackles (1.0 for loss).

Socorro's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Cathedral, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Socorro will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Eastwood at 7:30 p.m. This will be the Bulldogs' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Cathedral, they will head out to challenge Tornillo at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
